Completed November 15, 2014, this aerial marsupial turned out much heavier than her predecessors – product of denser felt and much-reinforced wire in the armature. She required emergency surgery to double up on her magnet to keep her from slithering down the fridge, and that was only the beginning of her travails. After a trip across the country for a failed audition as a cage toy demonstrator, she was drastically revised in mid-December when she insisted on being as true as she could be. The first seven pics show the new creature, followed by two of the original side by side with the real thing and two of the old views. Though she still wouldn’t work for a toy demo because her flying webs are partly spread (as if she’d just landed on your shoulder) rather than hunched in for creeping along, she’s now real as real....
Shes found a loving home now, but you can write to the Salamander to discuss construction of a glider of your own.
